The Destiny 2 Beta will let Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC owners try the highly anticipated game weeks before release.
For that reason, the Destiny 2 Beta is very important. Bungie and Activision will use the early access to test the different systems that power the title. Destiny 2 is an online role-playing game. These titles rely on multiplayer services, servers and account systems all working together for players. When these systems fail, they break game launches.
Gamers can expect the Destiny 2 Beta to arrive sometime this summer. Destiny 2 launches on September 8th and Bungie will want time to fix any issues before then. Console and PC owners that place a pre-order get access to the beta before anyone else.

Bungie has revealed when we’ll learn more about the Destiny 2 Beta. We also know how gamers without a pre-order can still play.
Destiny 2 Beta Start Date
The start date of the Destiny 2 Beta remains unknown. That’s despite Activision and Bungie revealing the game and opening pre-orders. It could be anytime between now and the game’s September 8th release.
Some reports assume Bungie will use its annual July 7th “Bungie Day” celebrations to start early access to the beta. The timetable for the first game’s launch does hint that this might be the plan. Destiny’s Beta started on July 17th, 2014. The game launched on September 9th.
Publisher Activision will share the Destiny 2 Beta release date at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, a recent press release confirms. That press release doesn’t reveal the date and time Activision will share new details, just that it will happen during the event. E3 2017 events start on June 10th.
How Long is the Destiny 2 Beta?
We don’t how long the Destiny 2 Beta will last. Bungie and Activision will announce that when they reveal the start date, it seems.
Gamers could enjoy the first title’s beta for a total of ten days. PlayStation users had access to the test before Xbox One owners. The game never came to the PC.
How to Join the Destiny 2 Beta
Bungie will open the Destiny 2 Beta up to anyone that wants to try the game on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The company describes this as the game’s Open Beta.
Gamers that place a pre-order at a participating retailer get access to the content in the Open Beta first. Amazon, GameStop, Target, Toys R Us and Wal-Mart provide their shoppers with codes printed on their receipt. Gamers enter that code on the Destiny 2 Beta website to unlock the test. Pre-ordering Destiny 2 through Xbox or PlayStation gets gamers early access without a code.

What’s in the Destiny 2 Beta
We know very little about the content in the Destiny 2 Beta. Bungie will want to keep the story and cut scenes for the final release. Because it’s a multiplayer beta, gamers can expect to get at least one map in the Crucible multiplayer mode. The testing could include the game’s character creators too. Players like to see how much they can alter their character’s look in role-playing games.
Expect limits on the game’s mechanics. Bungie could keep players from ever reaching the game’s higher character levels. Testers are unlikely to get access to the game’s full line-up of gear and weapons either. Historically, progress and characters in online role-playing game betas don’t carry over to the final game.
What to Expect from the Destiny 2 Beta
Activision and Bungie will discuss Destiny 2 at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Besides more beta details, video of a new Arcstrider Hunter player sub-class will arrive during the show. These reveals could come during Sony’s E3 2017 Press Conference on Monday, June 12th at 9 PM EST. Sony and Activision have a promotional agreement for Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Cinematic Story |

The most exciting of Destiny 2’s features are what Bungie is calling its “cinematic campaign.” That’s because the original Destiny arrived with an unorthodox single-player. The story wasn’t cohesive and didn’t dive into the game’s lore much. There were times when the story that was there seemed out-of-place. Destiny 2 promises a real narrative. Nathan Fillion and Lance Reddick star in the game’s story. During the middle of a calm meeting, it slowly dawns on the command staff at Earth’s last remaining city that something is about to go wrong. Soon they’re bombarded by a huge garrison of battleships. The Red Legion wants the power of the Traveler Orb floating above the city for itself. Gamers can expect lots of cutscenes between tasks in the game’s campaign. The scenes Bungie has shown off so far feel more like a movie than a video game. They are better at conveying what’s going on than Destiny’s story. |
