Detroit Become Human: Release Date, Story & Details

Detroit Become Human: Release Date, Story & Details

Sony could have another hit single-player game on its hands when the Detroit Become Human release date arrives.

Developer Quantic Dream teased Detroit Become Human’s story at the 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The game asks a lot of moral questions that PS4 owners must answer. How aware must something be for you to believe it is alive? What decisions would you make to free an oppressed people?

Androids begin disappearing one day. Those that aren’t missing behave strangely and some have become self-aware. This isn’t a linear story. The decisions that players make can get any of the three main characters killed. It’s up to the player to react with violence or work with humans to find a peaceful resolution. They need to discover what caused the problems also.

Detroit Become Human Release Date

We don’t have the Detroit Become Human release date quite yet because the game wasn’t far enough along by the E3 2017 conference for  Sony and Quantic Dream to share the information.  That’s despite the game having new trailers and playable demos.

The two companies did confirm the Detroit Become Human release window. Expect the game to launch sometime in 2018 on the PS4 and PS4 Pro. The game isn’t coming to the Xbox One or Windows PCs.

Detroit Become Human Pre-Orders & Price

Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop all have Detroit Become Human pre-orders available. Don’t expect beta access or any perks if you purchase early. There isn’t a beta that you need a pre-order to take part in. There are no pre-order extras for the game either.

The $59.99 copy you can pre-order today is a basic version of the game. Sony may reveal enhanced versions of Detroit Become Human with season passes and extra downloadable content, but they aren’t on sale today. No signs point to Sony announcing them soon either.

Detroit Become Human Gameplay & Story

Detroit Become Human’s story examines what happens after the androids become self-aware. The game’s trailer reveals it doesn’t take humans long to realize that something is wrong and panic. The game’s story branches depending on the actions you take and the decisions that you make. There aren’t an infinite number of decisions, but Quantic Dream hints that it’s highly unlikely two friends playing Detroit Become Human will have story experiences that match completely.

You get the story from the point of view of the three playable androids. Kara struggles to live with humans while so many other androids work as servants. Connor is a police Android assigned to stop androids that aren’t functioning normally. Markus wants to free every android serving humans. These three characters can die because of the decisions you make. The entire game takes place in a future version of Detroit, Michigan.

Investigating an area faster makes it more likely your missions are successful, Quantic Dream confirmed at E3 2017. You can reconstruct events from the past by finding clues and analyzing the environment around your character.

Detroit Become Human is an action-adventure game despite borrowing heavily from role-playing games. It has a third-person camera angle, and you should expect lots of combat between the game’s detailed story cut-scenes.

When We’ll See More of Detroit Become Human

Expect to hear more about Detroit Become Human by this December no matter its release date. Sony holds its annual PlayStation Experience event December 9th and December 10th, 2017. It has used the event to highlight PlayStation games and hardware since 2014.

Predicting when we’ll see more of Detroit Become Human in 2018 is difficult since we don’t have a narrower release window. We won’t see the game at 2018’s Electronic Entertainment Expo if it releases early in 2018. If the game arrives later in the year, Sony will spend lots of time talking about it on stage at the show.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

The Crash Bandicoot games were synonymous with the PlayStation during its formative years. Past games in the series let players use jumps and spins to take on enemies. Long levels offered combat, crates and fruit that players needed to collect. There are three games in the series.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy includes all three older games. It has Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot Warped. The original experience of all these games are there, but developer Vicarious Visions has added in a checkpoint system and a manual save system across all the games in the trilogy. Checkpointing ensures that gamers don’t lose progress when they forget to save. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has upgraded audio and 4K visuals to along with the updated saving features. This game arrives for PS4 on June 30th for $39.99.
