Bethesda won’t release any more Fallout 4 DLC but it still has some big plans for the game including Fallout 4 VR.
As we push into 2017, Bethesda and mod developers are keeping Fallout 4 alive in new and interesting ways.
The company is planning a new Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim and mod developers continue to release new and exciting modifications for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
There won’t be any new DLC expansions but updates, mods, and the highly anticipated Fallout 4 VR release should keep fans of the series satisfied as we push toward the game’s second birthday.
Fallout 4 VR was originally announced all the way back at E3 2016 in Los Angeles. It was confirmed onstage with Skyrim Special Edition, the Skyrim remaster Bethesda released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC back in October.
The game is back in the spotlight thanks to Bethesda’s E3 2017 showcase and we now have a specific release window to look forward to.
With that in mind, we want to take a look at everything we know right now about Fallout 4 VR and its release date.
Fallout 4 VR for HTC Vive
When Bethesda confirmed Fallout 4 VR it confirmed the title for one virtual reality platform: The HTC Vive.
While there are other interesting VR devices out there like the Oculus Rift and Sony PlayStation VR, Bethesda hasn’t confirmed a release for any platforms outside of the HTC Vive.
This doesn’t rule out a Fallout 4 VR release for alternative platforms down the road but we’d expect HTC Vive owners to get first dibs when the game arrives later this year.
If you’re unfamiliar with the HTC Vive, you’ll want to read up on it before the Fallout 4 VR release later this year.
Fallout 4 VR Release Date
Last year, Bethesda promised a Fallout 4 VR release for 2017. The game is still on track for this year.
Bethesda says Fallout 4 VR will be released sometime in October for the HTC Vive. The company didn’t confirm a specific release date.
Fallout 4 VR is a “New Game”
If you’re a Fallout 4 Season Pass holder, don’t expect the company to include Fallout 4 VR in that package.
Back in June, the company noted that Fallout 4 VR will be a “new game” which means it won’t be included in the Season Pass like a piece of DLC.
it would be a new game

It looks like it will be a standalone version of the game though we still don’t know how much it will cost or if Bethesda will offer a discount to those that bought Fallout 4 and/or the Season Pass.
It’s The Full Game
Fallout 4 VR won’t feature a portion of Commonwealth. Instead, Bethesda’s upcoming title will allow you to wander around the entire wasteland.
In an interview with Glixel, Todd Howard reiterated the company’s plan to bring the full version of Fallout 4 to HTC Vive owners.
Howard says the company is still “doing the whole game” and that you “can play it start to finish right now.” He also notes that “the whole thing really works in terms of interface and everything.”
haven’t said. Stay tuned

The company says the “whole world is fully explorable” and it “includes hundreds of locations, characters and quests.”
It’s still unclear if the experience will include the six pieces of Fallout 4 DLC Bethesda released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC back in 2016.
Fallout 4 Gameplay
The Fallout 4 VR the media went hands-on with in June wasn’t the final version of the game. And now that we’re in 2017, we’re starting to see Bethesda fill in some of the blanks.
The early demo didn’t feature the game’s V.A.T.S combat system but it’ll be making an appearance in the game according to Howard.
Here’s how he described the game’s current interface to Glixel:
The Pip-Boy is on your wrist and we’ve been able to present so that it works the way you expect. You look and there it is. The fact that the gunplay is a bit slower than in a lot of games has certainly helped us but we have V.A.T.S., so you can pause or slow down the world.
The Fallout 4 VR teaser from Bethesda’s E3 event, which can be seen below, showcases the V.A.T.S combat system in action on Fallout 4 VR.
The company’s also released some screenshots that showcase Fallout 4 VR and its interface.
Howard says the teleportation system that was present in the early Fallout 4 VR demo is still in the current version of the game but the company is apparently “experimenting with a few” other ways to move around the wasteland.
The goal, he says, is to “to ship with as many as we can, because it’s different for everybody.”

Let’s start with one of our favorite PC Fallout 4 mods that quickly made it over to the long list of Fallout 4 mods for console. keyNuker creates a key ring in your inventory that hides keys and passwords. With it installed, your MISC tab in on your Pip-Boy is going to be a lot more manageable, particularly if you’re deep into the game with tons and tons of items listed. The screenshot here shows you what the vanilla MISC tab looks like compared to the MISC tab with keyNuker installed. It’s night and day. This is one of our favorite Fallout 4 mods and one that should consider if you’re tired of wasting time scrolling through hundreds (many of them worthless) of items. |
